What is the Personal Loan product on LXME?

Lxme, in partnership with Zype — an RBI-registered NBFC — offers instant, fully digital personal loans ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹3,00,000. The loans are unsecured, require no collateral, and are designed for salaried individuals. The entire journey, from application to disbursement, takes place on Zype's platform. Lxme facilitates user discovery and access; all lending, credit decisioning, and disbursal is handled by Zype.

Zype is a fully digital, RBI-registered NBFC specialising in instant personal loans for salaried individuals. They handle all credit risk, KYC, underwriting, loan disbursement, and repayment management. Lxme works with Zype as an affiliate partner — the same model used for our FD CC partnership with Credilio. Lxme earns a referral fee on every disbursement and carries zero credit or lending risk.

Lxme is a facilitator, not a lender. When a user taps on the personal loan offering in the Lxme app, they are redirected to Zype's platform for the full application journey. Lxme does not make credit decisions, disburse funds, or manage repayments. This distinction is stated explicitly across all user-facing communications and platform materials.

The loan is available to salaried individuals who meet the following criteria:

  •     Occupation: Salaried only (self-employed not eligible at this stage)
  •     Age: 21–50 years
  •     Minimum monthly salary: ₹15,000, credited via bank transfer (cash salary not accepted)
  •     Bureau score: 650+ on Equifax (625+ if CIBIL is the reference bureau)
  •     No active delinquencies: zero tolerance for current 30+ DPD or any write-offs in the last 18 months
  •     New-to-credit (NTC) users are not eligible at this stage

Zype uses a risk-based underwriting model. The loan amount is determined by two parameters: up to 3x the user's monthly net income, and a Fixed Obligation to Income Ratio (FOIR) of 75% or less. This means existing EMIs and obligations are factored in before arriving at the eligible loan amount. The credit bureau check uses Equifax as the primary reference.

  •     Loan amount: ₹5,000 to ₹3,00,000
  •     Tenure: 6 to 18 months
  •     Interest rate (IRR): 24%–35% per annum
  •     Processing fee: 2%–5% (where applicable)
  •     Representative example: ₹50,000 loan | 12 months | 18% APR | EMI ₹4,580 | Total repayment ₹54,960

Repayments are collected via NACH autopay mandate, which users set up during the activation phase. EMIs are automatically deducted from the user’s registered bank account on the due date each month. Users do not need to initiate payments manually.

The process is fully digital and instant. Zype evaluates the user’s profile in real time and displays the approved credit limit immediately upon completing the eligibility check. Once the user completes KYC, links their bank account, signs loan documents digitally, and sets up the NACH mandate, disbursement follows. The entire journey — from application start to receiving funds — is designed to be completed in a single session with no branch visits or physical paperwork.

After tapping on the loan offering in the LXME app, the user is redirected to Zype’s platform for the following steps:

  •     Phase 1 — Registration: Mobile OTP, name, PAN, date of birth, email via Google
  •     Phase 2 — Employment & Address: Employment type, work email OTP, income, organisation, residential address
  •     Phase 3 — Approved Offer: Instant profile evaluation; credit limit displayed; user accepts and proceeds
  •     Phase 4 — KYC: Aadhaar via DigiLocker, selfie liveness check, KYC confirmation
  •     Phase 5 — Activation: Bank account and IFSC verification (penny drop), NACH autopay mandate setup, e-sign loan documents

After launching UPI and bill payments on the Lxme platform, we noticed that loan repayment usage among our users was growing, but more slowly than expected. When we spoke to users who weren’t engaging, a consistent theme emerged: many had no credit score. For first-generation women earners — our core audience — this was entirely expected. Building credit had never been accessible or intuitive for them. The personal loan product addresses a real financial need for users who already have a bureau score and a salaried income but lack a simple, trusted platform to access credit when they need it.

Three things distinguish this product for Lxme’s audience:

  • Trusted context: Lxme users are already engaged in their financial journey — investing, saving, building habits. A loan offered here comes with a layer of credibility that generic loan aggregators cannot provide.
  •     Part of a larger credit journey: The personal loan and the FD CC are complementary products. Users who build their credit profile via the FD CC can unlock personal loan eligibility over time — creating a meaningful financial progression within the Lxmeecosystem.
  •     Fully digital, low-ticket access: With loans starting at ₹5,000, the product is designed for genuine everyday financial needs — not just large-ticket borrowing. And with no branch visits or paperwork, it’s accessible even for users who have never taken a formal loan before.

Yes. Zype (operated by Zype Financial Services Pvt. Ltd.) is an RBI-registered NBFC. All credit decisions, KYC, disbursal, and repayment collection are Zype’s regulatory responsibility. LXME’s role is strictly that of a facilitator — we redirect interested users to Zype’s platform and earn a referral fee on successful disbursements.

Before any user is redirected to Zype’s platform, Lxme displays a dedicated offering page and a pre-redirect consent screen. These include the full APR range (24%–35%), tenure range (6–18 months), processing fee range (2%–5%), a representative loan example, eligibility criteria, and an explicit facilitator disclaimer stating that LXME is not a lender. Users must tick a consent checkbox confirming they understand and agree before they can proceed.
