There are simple ways to check the authenticity of your gold right in the comfort of your home.
In this blog let’s understand how to check gold purity,
When it comes to gold, purity matters. In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the body that ensures that gold is of a certain standard and free from impurities. Here are three simple gold testing methods to check if your gold jewelry is real and pure:
1. Check the Hallmark:
The hallmark is like a stamp of purity on gold jewelry. It is issued by BIS and is a clear indication that your gold is real. A hallmark consists of three important symbols:
BIS Logo: This is a triangular symbol that indicates the gold has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Purity Grade: You’ll see a number like 22K, 18K, or 14K, which tells you the purity (or karat) of your gold. For instance, 22K gold means it is 91.67% pure, 18K means 75% pure & 14K means 58.33% pure.
Jeweler’s Identification Mark: This mark on jewelry is of the jeweler who made the jewelry, ensuring traceability.
Check Hallmark Identification (HUID): A Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number is a unique six-digit alphanumeric code that is assigned to a piece of jewelry during the hallmarking process which you should check.
